Student & Home Volunteers
Opportunities are available in many departments of the hospital for high school juniors or seniors to shadow members of our staff for approximately 3 hours. Students participating in this program must dress appropriately and be in good health. Contact your guidance department to make arrangements.
Opportunities are also available in some departments for college students to fulfill internship requirements. Contact the department directly or the Volunteer and Student Services Office for more details.
For all the knitters out in the community who would like to make a difference in the life of a patient, here are some ways to put your talents to work for your community hospital:
- Knit caps for our newborns, who receive a hand knitted cap upon their arrival
- Knit or crochet baby blankets or sweater sets for our newborns
- Knit or crochet lap robes for patients
- Knit toe caps for patients who must wear foot or leg casts
Please email us or call 508-236-8800 to confirm our needs. When done, bring the item(s) to the Volunteer and Student Services Office at Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
