Our rehabilitation team includes a staff of physical therapists that are trained to treat a variety of physical injuries. Whether you're experiencing back pain or recovering from joint replacement, our team is determined to treat the cause and develop a plan for rehabilitation. Chad Alden, PTA
Chad is a 1994 graduate of Newbury College and has been with Sturdy for 25 years. Chad's concentration covers acute care, outpatient care, and the Spine Program. Chad holds the title of Clinical Coordinator for the Physical Therapy Assistant Internship Program and works very closely with administration from New England Institute of Technology. Chad's manner of care is infused with humor and genuine interpersonal relationships for the well-being of those he is treating. He is a firm believer in the team approach to assure quality of care. Chad is currently working toward a black belt in Krav Mega and participates in mud runs, extreme obstacle courses, successfully completing all three Spartan races - The Trifecta- in 2017.
Kathy Brastow, PTA
Kathy has 25 years of experience, the past 11 have been with Sturdy in the outpatient clinic. Her area of interest are orthopedic, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. She is certified to use our functional electrical stimulation cycle and is involved in the Aquatic program and Spine Program. In the past Kathleen has worked at Braintree Rehab and was a clinical specialist in lower extremity amputations.
Kathleen Farroba, DPT
Dr. Farroba has worked with Sturdy Memorial Hospital Physical Therapy and Rehab Services since 2015 as a physical therapist
in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She received her undergraduate Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Kinesiology and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. During her time at Northeastern University she worked in the Simulation Lab using video technology, simulation bays, debriefing rooms, and patient simulators to enhance the education of students and help prepare them for the acute care setting. While attending school, Kathleen also worked as a Sports Performance Coach and facilitated a sports camp for her local high school with her husband. Kathleen enjoys working with a variety of patients from both the inpatient and outpatient setting including post-surgical orthopedics

Kathleen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going on hikes with her Chocolate Lab, and weekends on the Cape.
William Figueroa, PTA
Will is a PTA in the Sturdy Outpatient Department. He graduated from New England Institute of Technology in 2016 from the Physical Therapist Assistant program where he received the Clinical Excellence Award upon completion of the program. William furthered his education with the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Sciences, which focused in on Kinesiology, Health and Wellness and Assistive Technology. William brings current evidence based practice experience with specialized certifications in LSVT BIG Therapy
, myofacial cupping, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. William was a US Army Sergeant and decorated service member and is a combat veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He maintains a positive military manner of professionalism that carried into the therapy practice with core values such as integrity and respect. For fun Will likes to participate in mud runs, spend time with his dog, and continue training in martial arts.
Andrea Hill, PTA
Andrea is a 1998 graduate of Newbury College. She has 21 years of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She has been with Sturdy since 2009 in the Rehabilitation Department. She is certified in the LSVT BIG
Program and vestibular rehabilitation, a therapy used to improve balance and reduce problems related to dizziness. In her free time, Andrea enjoys learning, working with people, staying active, music and painting.
Elaine Mowry, PT
Elaine has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. She has spent 34 years as a Physical Therapist working in various settings including Acute Care, Home Care and Short Term Rehab. She developed the first Cardiac Rehab Inpatient program at Rhode Island Hospital in 1988 for post open heart surgery and medical cardiac patients. Elaine also expanded the Cardiac Rehab program to VNA of Rhode Island/Lifespan to serve cardiac patients discharged home. She worked in short term and long term rehab settings before returning to Acute Care setting at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for the past 15 years. Elaine works to bridge ER services to outpatient services within our Sturdy community. Elaine is a married mother of two adult children and her favorite pastimes are traveling, gardening and genealogy research
Kim Nobrega, DPT
Dr. Nobrega started working at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in October 2014. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island in 2008. She specializes neurological disorders and works twice a week in the hospitals Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. She is certified in the LSVT BIG Program that is designed to help individuals with Parkinsons disease. She is also certified in Vestibular Therapy and has helped many patients with BPPV as well as other vestibular (inner ear/balance) disorders. She has over 10 years experience in outpatient physical therapy and specializes in acute and chronic orthopedic conditions, post-surgical conditions, sports-related injuries, and manual therapy. She holds manual therapy certificates in Mulligan Concept and Muscle Energy Techniques as well as certificates in Kinesio Taping and Functional Movement Assessments. She also volunteers her time rehabbing animals. She enjoys working out especially with weights, being outdoors with her husband, working in her gardens, spending time with friends and family and traveling.
Jennifer Perednia, PTA
Jennifer is a 2012 graduate of New England Technical Institute. She graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant Program with her Associates Degree. She has been at loyal employee of sturdy Memorial hospital for 15 years. She worked as a Transport Aide for two years, a Rehabilitation Aide for six years, and is currently a Physical Therapist Assistant for our Inpatient Rehabilitation Department. She serves as one of our clinical instructors for our Physical Therapy Assistant Students. Jen has also worked in the nursing home setting as a Physical Therapist Assistant for four years and has also received her EMT license. She is a married mother of two who loves to participate in obstacle course races and marathons. She completed the Spartan trifecta as well as both the 1/2 and full marathon in Disney.
Elizabeth Taylor, PT
Elizabeth has been a part of the Sturdy Rehab team for 23 years and has 35 years of experience. She is a graduate of Northeastern University. She is the lead therapist of our Spine Program that was developed by New England Baptist Spine Specialists and enjoys lecturing on injury prevention to companies in the community. Her passion is to help people stay active. She is a former distance runner, and in her free time she enjoys cycling, hiking, snow skiing and waterskiing.
Kerry Vigevani, MPT
Kerry graduated from Boston University with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy as well as a B.S. in Health Sciences. She has 21 years of experience and has worked full time at Sturdy for the past seven years. Kerry has experience in outpatient, inpatient, and rehabilitation settings at Newton-Wellesley Hospital where she was employed for 14 years. She taught strength and conditioning classes in a Wellness Program and worked per diem at the Community VNA as well. She specializes in orthopedics and vestibular rehabilitation and is also the lead therapist for the Sturdy Aquatic Therapy Program. Kerry is 1st Lt. in the Civil Air Patrol and serves as the Health Services Officer and Deputy Commander for Cadets in the BSU Composite Squadron.
