Laurie Callahan, COTA/L
Laurie is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who has been with Sturdy since 2017. Laurie works in the outpatient clinic, the Lymphedema Clinic, and covers inpatient as well when needed. Laurie graduated from Bay State College in 2000 and has been practicing Occupational Therapy for over 18 years. Laurie has spent the majority of her career working in sub-acute and skilled nursing with a focus on geriatrics. Laurie became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist in January 2018. Laurie lives locally with her husband and four children. In her free time, Laurie enjoys camping and spending time on the beaches of Cape Cod.
Nancy Hardy OTR/L, CLT-LANA
Nancy graduated from Worcester State University in 1998 and has been an Occupational Therapist for 21 years. Nancy worked as an inpatient OT for many years working in acute rehab, skilled nursing, and acute care facilities. Nancy was first employed at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York. She went to work for Paragon Rehab in Westerly, Rhode Island, and Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, MA before landing at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in 2003. For many years Nancy has worked with inpatients and outpatients at Sturdy, treating orthopedic and neurological conditions. In 2014, Nancy became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and started the Lymphedema Program. In 2015, she became certified by the Lymphedemeology Association of North America. Nancy is very passionate about the Lymphedema program and has attended extensive continuing education on this disease.
Chelsea LaPorte, OTR/L
Chelsea joined Sturdy's Rehabilitation Services Department in 2013 as a Registered Occupational Therapist. Her passion for the profession began while volunteering for several years at a local therapeutic riding center for intellectually and physically challenged individuals. She graduated from Bristol Community College with her Associates degree in 2009. She worked as a COTA while earning her Bachelors and Master's Degree at New England Institute of Technology. Chelsea enjoys working with a wide variety of patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics and neurological conditions. Chelsea supervises students at the associate and graduate level, created and facilitates the pediatric feeding program (Food School), completes ergonomic workstation evaluations and facilitates the Stroke Support Groups. When not working, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, playing volleyball and traveling.
