Dr. Jessica Manyan is a physician at North Attleborough Medical Center. Dr. Manyan grew up on a farm in Maine, which gave her a strong sense of the importance of nutrition and physical activity on overall health. She chose to go into the medical field because of her fascination with biological science and a strong desire to help people in need. Being a Family Medicine physician allows her to help people of all ages and in all medical situations, and she loves learning about her patients and community.
Dr. Manyan's practice style is based on prioritizing quality of life, wellness, and shared decision-making with her patients. Her standard is to provide the kind of care that she expects for her own family members. An essential part of her practice is striving to base all of her treatment and testing recommendations on the best quality evidence available, and to make sure she is answering the questions her patients ask, as well as the questions they may not know to ask.
Dr. Manyan sees patients for preventative visits as well as chronic care and acute visits, and what happens in the appointment depends on why the patient is visiting the office. As a patient, you can expect to always spend a little time talking about what has happened in between visits, discussing medications, health habits, and planning for the next visit.
In her 20 years of practice, Dr. Manyan has worked in a number of other roles. She has worked with patients from all backgrounds both in and out of the hospital, and while she has always seen her own patients, teaching residents about the art of medicine has helped her in her own practice. What has sustained her, and made her never want to stop being a doctor, are her relationships with her patients. She finds it extremely rewarding to earn a patient's trust as a solid, reliable, and rational source of care. She also enjoys being an advocate for her patients, as she understands the challenges of the healthcare environment.
Dr. Manyan is part of a very musical family and after work she listens to her family practicing piano, saxophone, bass guitar or singing. For her health, she practices Chinese Martial Arts, mainly Tai Chi and Kung Fu, and bike. She enjoys finding new recipes and has been focused on learning about low carb plant based diets.
