Diabetes Management Program
The Diabetes Management Program at Sturdy, which is recognized by the American Diabetes Association, is an interactive educational process led by a Diabetes Educator. The program focuses on seven self-care behaviors for improved health and quality of life: healthy eating, being active, monitoring blood sugar, taking medication, reducing risks, problem solving, and healthy coping. Patients take part in educational sessions with a Diabetes Educator that include an assessment of needs, review of the disease process, tips to assist in overcoming barriers, and how to incorporate blood glucose testing and medications into daily routine. International Travel Medicine
Occupational Health Service (OHS) provides for individualized, destination-specific travel appointments. Appointments are tailored to the individual and take into consideration patients' health status, past vaccination history, travel destination, and length of stay. Aquatic Physical Therapy: The Physical Therapy Department at Sturdy Memorial offers Aquatic Physical Therapy at the Attleboro YMCA Texins Activity Center's pool with a licensed Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant. This program can help improve function for patients with conditions including low back pain, neck pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, recovery from total joint replacements, and fibromyalgia or other myofacial pain syndromes. Certified Speech-Language Pathologists provide a full range of therapy services to patients of all ages. We treat individuals with swallowing difficulties, including the ability to complete Modified Barium Swallowing Studies. Sturdy Memorial Hospital is a designated provider of primary stroke services through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). A multidisciplinary team of practitioners in emergency medicine, nursing, neurology, radiology, and the laboratory provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients who present with acute stroke symptoms. Patients also have the support of ongoing evaluations offered by speech, occupational, and physical therapy. Additionally, the Stroke Committee oversees and monitors the program for quality improvement and provides ongoing direction for our stroke services, assessments, and treatments. The Mansfield Health Center, a unit of Sturdy Memorial Hospital, offers walk-in health services on weekdays. The walk-in clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staffed by experienced, certified physician assistants and nurse practitioners, the Mansfield Health Center walk-in clinic specializes in treating acute illnesses or injuries that do not warrant a visit to the emergency room. The walk-in clinic is ideal for residents who are unable to see their primary care physicians for treatment of such illnesses or injuries. Furthermore, the Center's convenient onsite laboratory and digital radiology departments assist staff in providing timely, thorough health care.
