Sturdy Memorial's Cancer Care Program is approved by the American College of surgeons and was most recently surveyed in 2005. This approval ensures that a high quality standard of cancer care is always maintained.

Sturdy Memorial's high standards of care are maintained through four major components: Cancer Commitee, Tumor Registry, Tumor Conference and a Continuous Quality Improvement Program.

Over the years many new cancer-related drugs have become available enabling the majority of patients with cancer to receive chemotherapy on an outpatient basis. Patients who come to Sturdy Memorial are able to receive the newest anti-cancer drugs, individually prescribed to meet their needs by two outstanding Medical Oncologists, Paula McBrine, MD and Carol Vasconcellos, MD.
